The study of social networks originated in social and business communities. In recent years, social network research has advanced significantly; the development of sophisticated techniques for Social Network Analysis and Mining (SNAM) has been highly influenced by the online social Web sites, email logs, phone logs and instant messaging systems, which are widely analysed using the graph theory and machine learning techniques. People perceive the Web increasingly as a social medium that fosters interaction among people, sharing experiences and knowledge, group activities, community formation and evolution. This has led to a rising prominence of SNAM in academia, politics, homeland security and business. This follows the pattern of known entities of our society that have evolved into networks in which actors are increasingly dependent on their structural embedding.
The ASONAM is the best annual worldwide conference on Social Network Analysis and Mining. Each day the conference will begin with a keynote speech, additionally there will be an invited speech with the panel discussion every day after the lunch break. At the end of the first day, there will be Welcoming Reception combined with the poster session. The Gala Dinner with the Best Paper Award ceremony will conclude the second day. The rest of the time will be filled up with 3 or 4 parallel sessions, during which the recent discoveries in Advances in Social Networks Analysis and Mining will be presented by the authors of the accepted, peer-reviewed papers. Finally, there will be the presentation of the ENGINE Centre, WrUT and Wrocław city at the beginning of the conference.
The conference will be free of charge for people, who will have their papers accepted for presentation, as well as for the ENGINE Centre staff, keynote and invited talk speakers. For the others, there will be registration fee to cover all costs (about 500 EUR).
